Update

Several things to report on in this post since it’s been so long:

Pregnancy: Doing really well. I am 34 weeks along. It has been really easy up until now. I am just hoping that now that I have written this, I am not jinxing myself. The only thing of concern has been around my weight gain. In the past 5 weeks, I have basically gained a single pound. I asked the doctor about this and she said that as long as I am at a total weight gain that is normal, she isn’t worried. I gained a whole bunch in my second trimester to sustain me for the rest of the pregnancy, so I hope she is right. I am still concerned, but trying to remain calm. In total, for those of you are curious, I have gained 30.5 pounds so far.

Anniversary: Today is my 13th wedding anniversary. We celebrated 2 weeks ago by going to Hawaii (part babymoon part anniversary). It was really relaxing and fun. The only bummer was when we decided to lay out on a cool cloudy day and play at the pool. We got a wicked sunburn that I am still recovering from. I told my pregnant belly over and over to learn from his stupid mother to ALWAYS use sunscreen. OY am I dumb. Some photos:

Baby Prep: I am a procrastinator. It’s a high fine art with me. I have spent a life time perfecting this and wow has it paid off in spade for my baby planning. Now that I am down to 6 weeks left (3 weeks until full term mind you) that I should start buying baby goods. My DH and I went to the mega store for babies with the backwards R and all I can say is “OVERWHELMED”! First thing we come to is baby monitors. Do you know that there are like 50 kinds? From the very plain one-way radio to the very expensive video/motion monitor with 5 hands set to go with the base station. How does one even make a rational decision? Then we get to the baby bottles. I thought were only one or two kinds, but once again, you can have small to big, bent to straight, drop in liner regular bottle. We spent like one hour just deciding on these 2 items and I have a list of 50 must get items. At this rate, we were going to be there all week. Then the big decision – the stroller/car seat. Dum Dum Da Dum. Very stressful decision. We want to buy the safest, but need one that doesn’t require superhuman strength or a PhD to operate. We finally decided on this one. Easy to operate and light weight so even I, the weakling that I am, can open, close, and lift it. The baby furniture arrived! I didn’t get the one pictured below. I found another set that I liked even more that is a tad more masculine and it can grow with our little boy until he is a teenager. I still need to install the closet system and paint the room, which is still 100% empty. I am taking a day off next week to do the closet and paint. Then I can set up the furniture and begin setting up the room for the day the baby shows up.

Classes: Next weekend start the baby classes. Birthing class, then breastfeeding class, then Infant Saftey, then car seat safety. The car seat class is 3 hours long, which seems ridiculously long, but I have heard that it’s totally worth it. Being a trainer myself, I am always critical of other training. I have to learn to be open minded and focus on the content, not the delivery.
